Description
Concert Band
The concert band is open to all band instrumentalists at CHS. Students are expected to practice and demonstrate technical growth. Participation at activities outside of the regular is required.
Wind Ensamble
A select concert band open to students who have demonstrated outstanding instrumental, social, and leadership skill. Some outside of class rehearsal is required.
Jazz Band
The jazz band is performance oriented, participating in concerts, school and community functions, and festivals throughout the year. Participation at activities held outside of regular class hours is required.
Jazz Choir
This is a select group which is limited in size. Course content is vocal jazz music. Students will be expected to learn vocal jazz techniques including scat solos, and all styles of jazz. The group is performance oriented and requires hours outside the regular school day for performances within the community and at various festivals in the Northwest. Fund-raising is also required.
Concert Choir
This is a performance orientedmixed choir. The course will include sight singing, ear training, instruction in vocal production, part singing and performance. Regular attendance is a must. A variety of music will be taught and learned. This is a participation class and little or no homework is required.
Winter Guard
This group competes and perforns during the basketball season. This ensemble travels a great deal to competitions on the west side of our state. The team is Clarkston's only dance-oriented program. Auditions for this team take place just after fall sprots season in November.
Marching Band
The "Pride of Clarkston" Marching Band & Color Guard is one of the premier marhcing units in the state. Rehearsal begins in late August at Camp Wooten for band camp and continues with evening rehearsals and sectionals 2 nights a week throughout the fall season. Participation is fun and exciting.
